Betnovate-N Cream is primarily indicated for the treatment of skin inflammation that is responsive to corticosteroids, and where bacterial infection is present or likely. It combines a potent corticosteroid (Betamethasone) to reduce inflammation, redness, and itching, with an antibiotic (Neomycin) to combat bacterial infections.
What’s in the Cream:
Betnovate-N Cream is a smooth, white cream that easily blends into the skin that contains two main ingredients:
- Betamethasone (0.1%) – helps reduce redness, itching, and swelling.
- Neomycin (0.5%) – an antibiotic that helps stop or prevent skin infections.
Indications
- Betnovate-N Cream are indicated for the treatment of the following conditions where secondary bacterial infection is present, suspected, or likely to occur:
- Eczema in adults and children (aged 2 years and over), including atopic and discoid
- eczemas; prurigo nodularis; psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis);
- neurodermatoses including, lichen planus; seborrhoeic dermatitis; contact sensitivity
- reactions.
- Betnovate-N Cream can also be used in the management of insect bites reactions,
- prickly heat, anal and genital intertrigo.
Dosage and Administration:
Betnovate-N Cream works best on moist or oozing skin.
For thick or stubborn skin patches (like psoriasis on elbows or knees), you can make the cream work better by gently covering the area with plastic wrap overnight. This usually helps improve the skin within a few days. After that, you can keep using the cream without covering it.
Do not use the cream for more than 7 days unless your doctor tells you to. If you’re using it on your face, use it for no longer than 5 days, and do not cover it with plastic or dressings.
