Betmiga (mirabegron) is a medication used to treat overactive bladder. Its benefits are similar to antimuscarinic medication such as solifenacin or tolterodine. It is taken by mouth. Common side effects include high blood pressure, headaches, and urinary tract infections.

  • Dosage and Form: It is available as prolonged-release (slow-release) tablets and granules for oral suspension. It is typically taken once a day.
  • Prescription Only: Betmiga can only be obtained with a prescription.
  • Common Side Effects: Common side effects in adults can include tachycardia (rapid heartbeat) and urinary tract infections.
  • Contraindications: It should not be used in people with severe and uncontrolled high blood pressure, or end-stage kidney or moderate to severe liver problems (depending on other medications being taken).
